ABOUT US

The Leela Project is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing literacy training, mentorship and academic counseling for underrepresented youth from underserved communities across california. We have provided opportunities for at-risk young men by first meeting their needs through our model of “Engage, Educate, Empower” via counseling, then educating them on how to address those needs through mentorship and ultimately empowering them through leadership and financial literacy training. Our literacy program is in over five elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District and in one elementary school in the Rialto Unified School District.

The Leela Project is not new to Southern California, in the past five years we have been able to provide 10,000 backpacks, 5,000 pairs of shoes and over 1,000 haircuts to youth in the Inland Empire. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, we went on a “25 City Food Tour” feeding over 100,000 families in 100 days. Since then we have been able to continue serving our community by providing food, clothing, scholarships, sponsoring youth sports and raising support for our international project, building a home for a family in Mexico.
